The Senior Employment Counsel at xAI will lead the company's compliance with state and federal employment laws, including areas such as meal and rest breaks, bonuses, benefits, timekeeping, payroll, discrimination, and harassment. This role involves close collaboration with HR and other departments to develop and implement policies on accommodations, leaves of absence, onboarding, and substance use programs. The position is based in Palo Alto, CA, and requires onsite presence.

Key responsibilities include conducting regular audits of xAI's compliance programs, advising on employment separations, job classifications, background checks, and recruitment processes. The counsel will draft and deliver training to leadership, manage OFCCP compliance reports, and oversee benefits compliance. Monitoring developments in labor, employment, and benefits law to recommend necessary changes is also a critical aspect of the role.

Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and have at least 10 years of employment law experience. Preferred qualifications include an excellent academic record from a top-tier law school, experience with AAP preparation or OFCCP compliance evaluations, and familiarity with California employment law. Strong problem-solving skills, clear communication abilities, and a solution-oriented mindset are essential.
