Senior Frontend Engineer - Product Platform (Remote across ANZ)
Canva is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to join its Product Platform Supergroup, focusing on developing shared frontend frameworks and component libraries that support all product teams. This role is pivotal in enhancing the developer experience, performance, and architecture across Canva's frontend ecosystem, impacting hundreds of engineers and billions of user interactions.
Key responsibilities include building tools and infrastructure to streamline development workflows, improving code quality, and addressing frontend performance and scalability challenges. The engineer will collaborate closely with design system and product teams to ensure accessibility, consistency, and reliability, while also leading technical design discussions and advocating for frontend best practices. Mentoring engineers and contributing to the growth of Canva’s frontend community of practice are also essential aspects of this role.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience developing large-scale frontend applications, with expertise in JavaScript, React, TypeScript, and modern build tools such as Webpack and Vite. A strong understanding of frontend architecture, performance optimization, and accessibility is required, along with experience in building shared frameworks, design systems, or developer tooling. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential, as is a solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and performance trade-offs in browser environments. An interest or experience in integrating AI capabilities into user experiences is considered a bonus.
