Senior Legal Counsel, Commercial, IP & AI
Monzo is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel specializing in Commercial, Intellectual Property (IP), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to join our UK Legal team. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to one of the most innovative banks in the world, working closely with various stakeholders across the organization to support our mission of making money work for everyone.
In this position, you will lead on a wide range of legal matters, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, developing and implementing processes to enhance the efficiency of legal advice, and supporting the delivery of our intellectual property strategy. Additionally, you will act as a subject matter expert on AI-related legal issues, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
The ideal candidate will have approximately 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience, preferably gained in private practice and/or in-house at a high-growth technology company or financial institution. A deep understanding of contract law, experience with intellectual property matters (particularly copyright and trademarks), and familiarity with legal issues related to artificial intelligence are essential. Strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams are also key attributes for success in this role.
