Senior Legal Counsel, Operations, Technology & Projects

Moniepoint is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to lead the drafting, negotiation, and execution of complex commercial agreements, including SaaS, licensing, and payment partnerships. This role involves providing clear legal guidance on contractual risks, developing contract templates, advising on intellectual property matters, and supporting corporate finance activities such as debt and equity financing. The position also requires collaboration with finance, strategy, and external advisors to ensure precise execution of transactions and monitoring contractual obligations to stay ahead of regulatory changes.

The ideal candidate will have 8 to 11 years of experience in commercial law, focusing on technology and complex contract negotiations. A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and a Qualifying Certificate from the Nigerian Law School are required. Candidates should demonstrate success in leading corporate finance and M&A transactions, possess a deep understanding of the fintech or banking regulatory landscape, and exhibit mastery in drafting clear and legally robust documents.

Preferred qualifications include experience in a fast-growth scale-up or global fintech environment and a proven ability to manage high-value transactions across multiple jurisdictions. The successful candidate will be adept at balancing strict compliance with business realities, communicating effectively without legal jargon, and managing high-stakes deals with resilience and honesty.
