Senior Machine Learning Engineer - Content ML (AU remote)

Canva is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join its Content Machine Learning team, dedicated to ensuring the safety and quality of content at scale. This team focuses on developing AI-driven solutions to automate content moderation and review processes, aiming to build an automated review system with human oversight to continuously improve and evolve the system.

In this role, the engineer will research, develop, and deploy AI-based solutions for content moderation, collaborate with diverse stakeholders to guide technical vision, and be responsible for breaking down and delivering large projects. The position involves hands-on software development, working closely with leads, designers, and product managers, fostering a healthy team environment through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and process improvements. Additionally, the engineer will promote a collaborative culture and advocate for engineering needs to non-technical stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of industry experience in a machine learning engineering role within a Product or SaaS company. Experience in text, image, video, and audio understanding is highly desirable, along with a background in working cross-functionally with product managers and other business functions. Proven experience in proposing and implementing automation initiatives with human-in-the-loop processes is also essential.
