Senior Principal Software Engineer, Applied Generative AI
SoFi is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to lead the integration of AI technologies within its technology organization. This role involves collaborating with engineering and data science leaders to develop and implement AI strategies that enhance software development processes and back-office operations. The position is based in San Francisco, CA, with a hybrid work arrangement.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership by promoting best practices for AI application across various domains. Responsibilities include serving as a strategic technical advisor to engineering and business leadership, driving innovation in AI-assisted developer productivity, and ensuring operational excellence through observability strategies and incident resolution. Additionally, the role involves mentoring engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and influencing the adoption of AI-enabled developer tools and best practices.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, along with over 15 years of software development experience. Significant recent experience in applying Generative AI within software development, particularly in medium to large enterprises, is essential. Expertise in public cloud platforms (preferably AWS), containerization and orchestration technologies (such as Kubernetes and Docker), and a deep understanding of modern development practices and CI/CD pipelines are required. Familiarity with agentic architectures, including SDKs and context engineering, is also important. Strong communication and collaboration skills are necessary to effectively engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
The base salary for this position ranges from $224,000 to $385,000 annually, with the final offer determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, and location.
