Senior Product Compliance Manager - Japan

Wise is seeking a Senior FinCrime Product Compliance & Risk Manager to join our APAC Product team in Tokyo. This role is integral to launching new products and services, as well as enhancing our existing offerings in Japan. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with regional Product Managers and cross-functional teams, including Bankers, Engineers, Data Analysts, and Operations Specialists, to ensure our products align with both customer needs and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities include conducting FinCrime risk assessments for new products and services, ensuring the implementation of appropriate controls prior to launch, and enabling Product teams to adopt a risk-based approach in developing products, processes, and controls. The role also involves staying abreast of FinCrime trends and regulatory developments in Japan, identifying and aligning with risk owners and second-line defense on primary FinCrime risks, and managing audits and remediation plans in collaboration with internal teams.

The ideal candidate will possess expertise in FinCrime compliance and risk management, with a strong understanding of applicable regulations in Japan. They should demonstrate a natural ownership mentality, driving projects from inception to completion with attention to detail. Strong communication skills are essential, enabling effective interaction with diverse audiences, including Product and Engineering teams, external auditors, and regulators such as the Ministry of Finance. A problem-solving attitude, with the ability to analyze and interpret complex regulatory and risk management frameworks and apply them effectively using data to drive practical, actionable solutions, is also required.
