The Senior Product Counsel at Playlist will be an integral member of the Legal team, supporting Playlist and its subsidiaries, including Mindbody and ClassPass, globally. This role focuses on embedding legal compliance throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring that the company innovates responsibly while maintaining a swift pace. The primary emphasis is on consumer protection laws and regulations, with additional responsibilities in AI regulation, privacy and data protection, marketing laws, and other relevant regulatory matters. The position requires collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, including outside counsel, employees, and executives worldwide.

Key responsibilities include partnering with Product, Design, and Engineering teams throughout the product development process—from ideation to launch—to ensure legal compliance and manage risk without hindering innovation. The role involves participating in product roadmap planning, collaborating closely with stakeholders to identify upcoming features with legal implications, and shaping design decisions early. As the lead legal contact for various teams, the Senior Product Counsel will provide timely, pragmatic advice on new product design and development. Monitoring and analyzing global regulatory developments to ensure proactive compliance with key federal, state, and international regulations is also a critical aspect of the role.

Candidates should possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and be a member in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar. A minimum of 10 years of relevant legal experience is required, with in-house experience in the technology industry being advantageous. Strong experience advising Product, Design, and Engineering teams on consumer protection in the U.S., U.K., and Europe is essential. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, capable of driving cross-functional projects with minimal supervision, and adept at managing multiple priorities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with a commitment to high legal standards and professionalism, are necessary.

The base salary range for this position in the United States is $175,000 to $250,000 annually. The total compensation package may also include a performance bonus, benefits, and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
