Canonical is seeking a Senior Security Operations Engineer to join its Security Operations team. This team is responsible for designing, building, and operating a world-class Security Operations Center (SOC) to protect Canonical's platforms and products. The successful candidate will provide leadership, mentorship, and expertise in security monitoring, threat hunting, and response, contributing to the overall security posture of the company.

Key responsibilities include implementing and evolving Canonical's SOC, designing and developing security software and platforms, monitoring for and responding to security incidents, and assessing and improving security controls. The role also involves mentoring early-career Security Operations engineers, planning and delivering work within Canonical's agile engineering framework, and contributing to open source security initiatives through publications and conference presentations.

The ideal candidate will have an exceptional academic track record with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field, or a compelling alternative path. As the publisher of Ubuntu, Canonical is a pioneering tech firm at the forefront of the global move to open source. The company has been remote-first since its inception in 2004, offering a dynamic and challenging work environment that encourages innovation and personal growth.
