Senior Site Reliability Engineer
Mozilla is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the Thunderbird team, a trusted open-source email application used by over 20 million people worldwide. As part of MZLA Technologies Corporation, Thunderbird focuses on building privacy-respecting communication tools that empower users to manage their digital lives while maintaining control over their data. In this role, the Senior Site Reliability Engineer will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the infrastructure and operational systems that support Thunderbird's services. Key duties include designing and developing CI/CD systems for MZLA websites, services, and release workflows, diagnosing and debugging production incidents, and implementing improvements to enhance system reliability. The engineer will work closely with Software Development Engineers, team members, and community contributors, reporting to the Senior Manager of Platform Infrastructure.
Candidates should have over seven years of experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, or site reliability roles, with hands-on production Kubernetes experience in workload operations, troubleshooting, and cluster management. Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code on AWS using Terraform, OpenTofu, or Pulumi is required. A strong security awareness in day-to-day infrastructure work, including identity management, least privilege, secrets hygiene, and network controls, is essential. Excellent asynchronous written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with geographically distributed teams are also important.
Compensation for this role is competitive and varies by location:
- United States: $123,000 - $144,000 USD
- Canada: $108,000 - $125,000 CAD
- United Kingdom: £62,000 - £72,000 GBP
