Senior Software Engineer - Core Platform - Streaming & Storages
StubHub is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Core Platform - Streaming & Storage team. This role involves designing, building, and evolving critical infrastructure for StubHub's engineering organization, focusing on streaming, messaging, and storage platforms. The team is responsible for foundational products such as message queues, distributed query languages (DQL), retry infrastructure, message versioning, messaging control planes, and storage platforms like key-value databases, distributed caches, and blob storage. These systems support high-scale, reliable, event-driven services and business-critical workflows across listings, transactions, fulfillment, and customer experiences.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, collaborate with engineering teams to address complex performance and reliability challenges, and modernize services within StubHub's distributed systems. A key responsibility includes decomposing large monolithic SQL Server data stores into more purpose-built storage systems, supported by mature streaming solutions and reliable data access layers. Your role will also involve developing SDKs, services, shared packages, and tools to enhance engineering efficiency and productivity.
Candidates should have 5-6+ years of professional software development experience, with proficiency in general-purpose programming languages such as C/C++, Java, or C#. Expertise in designing and optimizing distributed systems, including microservices architectures, caching strategies, and message queuing systems, is essential. Demonstrated ability to analyze and enhance system scalability, reliability, and performance metrics is required. Experience in decomposing monolithic SQL Server data stores into purpose-built storage systems is also important. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams are necessary, along with experience in mentoring junior engineers.
The compensation package includes a base salary ranging from $200,000 to $250,000 per year, with additional equity and benefits.
