The Senior Software Engineer (Localization) role at Mozilla involves contributing to the development and maintenance of localization infrastructure across Mozilla's products and services. This position is part of the Localization Team, which supports a global community of volunteer localizers and ensures that Mozilla's offerings are accessible to users worldwide. In this role, the engineer will develop and maintain Python and JavaScript libraries, such as moz-l10n, and tools that support Mozilla's localization infrastructure. Responsibilities include improving localization and internationalization within the Firefox codebase to enhance adaptability across languages and regions. The engineer will also collaborate with engineers and program managers to design and implement new features in Pontoon, Mozilla's Django-based Translation Management System. Engaging with the community of volunteer developers and localizers to support and guide localization efforts is a key aspect of the role.

Candidates should have strong experience developing and maintaining libraries and tools using Python and JavaScript, along with a solid understanding of web technologies, APIs, and modern development workflows. Experience with open-source development practices and community collaboration is essential. The ability to collaborate effectively in a distributed team across time zones and disciplines, coupled with excellent communication skills, is required. Professional fluency in English, both written and verbal, is necessary.
