Senior Software Engineer (Localization)
Mozilla Corporation is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Localization Team, which manages the infrastructure supporting localization across all Mozilla products and services. This role involves contributing to various localization projects and technologies, including open-source libraries like moz-l10n and Pontoon, Mozilla's Django-based Translation Management System. The position offers an opportunity to work on internationalization features that enhance the user experience of Firefox and other Mozilla products, as well as to engage in the development of standards such as Unicode MessageFormat and DOM Localization.
Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining Python and JavaScript libraries and tools that support Mozilla's localization infrastructure. The engineer will improve localization and internationalization within the Firefox codebase to make features more adaptable and accessible across different languages and regions. Collaboration with engineers and program managers to design and implement new features in Pontoon is also a significant aspect of the role. Additionally, the position involves engaging with the community of volunteer developers and localizers to support and guide Mozilla's localization efforts, ensuring effective collaboration across regions and time zones.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in developing and maintaining libraries and tools using Python and JavaScript, along with a solid understanding of web technologies, APIs, and modern development workflows. Experience with open-source development practices and community collaboration is essential. The role requires the ability to collaborate effectively in a distributed team across time zones and disciplines, as well as excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity and working across technical and non-technical roles. Professional fluency in English, both written and verbal, is required.
