Senior Software Engineer (Localization)
Mozilla Corporation is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Localization Team, which manages the infrastructure powering localization across all Mozilla products and services. This team supports a global community of volunteer localizers, ensuring that Mozilla's offerings are accessible and user-friendly worldwide. As a Senior Engineer, you will contribute to various localization projects and technologies, including open-source libraries like moz-l10n and Pontoon, Mozilla's Django-based Translation Management System. Additionally, you'll work on internationalization features that enhance the user experience of Firefox and other Mozilla products.
In this role, your key responsibilities will include developing and maintaining Python and JavaScript libraries and tools that support Mozilla's localization infrastructure. You'll improve localization and internationalization within the Firefox codebase, making features more adaptable and accessible across different languages and regions. Collaborating with engineers and program managers, you'll design and implement new features for Pontoon. Engaging with the community of volunteer developers and localizers, you'll support and guide Mozilla's localization efforts. Effective collaboration with teammates and internal clients across various regions and time zones is essential.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in developing and maintaining libraries and tools using Python and JavaScript, along with a solid understanding of web technologies, APIs, and modern development workflows. Experience with open-source development practices and community collaboration is highly valued. The ability to collaborate effectively in a distributed team across time zones and disciplines is crucial. Excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity and the ability to work across technical and non-technical roles, are required. Professional fluency in English, both written and verbal, is necessary.
