Senior Software Engineer
NMI is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our Core Gateway team, responsible for developing and maintaining our primary payment gateway platforms. These platforms handle high-volume, business-critical transaction processing for merchants worldwide, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability. As a key member of this team, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of our payment operations, supporting customers in an increasingly digital economy.
In this role, you will design and deliver complex backend systems that power secure, scalable, and high-performance payment processing. You will take ownership of significant components within the Core Gateway platform, ensuring long-term maintainability and operational excellence. Your responsibilities include articulating complex technical solutions to various stakeholders, guiding project delivery, identifying and resolving architectural gaps, and leading design reviews to uphold high-quality standards. Additionally, you will drive improvements in observability, fault tolerance, and operational readiness across services.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 5 years in developing complex software applications in a commercial environment. Advanced proficiency in C# (preferred) or PHP, along with a strong understanding of object-oriented design principles, is essential. A deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle and agile methodologies is required. Experience with relational databases, security best practices, and cloud environments such as Google Cloud Platform or AWS is also necessary. Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record of mentoring others are highly valued.
