Senior Software Engineer, TRM
Topstep is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their TRM Engineering team, focusing on developing and maintaining applications that support both funded traders and internal operations. The role involves building trader-facing web experiences, account and onboarding flows, payment systems, and internal tools essential for business functions. The company emphasizes creating reliable, secure, and scalable systems to enhance the trading experience.
In this position, the engineer will design, build, and operate full-stack features using TypeScript, Node.js, React, and Next.js, deploying cloud-native applications on AWS. Responsibilities include collaborating with Product and Design teams to define project scopes, writing technical designs, guiding architectural decisions, and implementing automated testing and observability. The role also involves mentoring junior engineers, conducting code reviews, and participating in on-call rotations to address production issues.
Candidates should have over five years of experience in building and operating production-grade systems with user-facing APIs, demonstrating impact on scalability and reliability. A strong full-stack foundation is required, including backend development in TypeScript and Node.js, API design (REST, GraphQL), and frontend development in React and Next.js. Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, message queues, and database management (PostgreSQL or SQL Server) is essential. A production mindset with a focus on metrics, logging, tracing, and end-to-end delivery ownership is also necessary.
The compensation package includes a base salary ranging from $155,000 to $193,000 annually, with eligibility for a performance-based bonus.
