Senior Staff Engineer - Merchant

As a Senior Staff Engineer in the Merchant Group at Wolt, you will address complex engineering challenges at scale, developing products and platforms that empower merchants to manage and expand their businesses. Your work will support a diverse range of partners, from local shops to large enterprises, ensuring they have the tools needed for daily operations and growth.

Your primary responsibilities will include leading initiatives that span multiple services and organizational boundaries, collaborating closely with product and business stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions. You will design and evolve scalable distributed systems, balancing speed, quality, and long-term maintainability. Additionally, you will identify and implement AI opportunities within our products and advocate for AI-enabled tools and practices to enhance productivity and decision-making across teams.

The ideal candidate will have experience operating at a Staff Engineer level or equivalent, with a proven track record of leading complex, cross-team initiatives in distributed systems environments. Deep expertise in system design and scaling backend services for reliability and performance is essential. A pragmatic, impact-oriented mindset with a bias for action and simple, effective solutions is highly valued. Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement are also important.
