Senior/Staff Software Engineer (Platform and Execution Model)
Red Cell Partners is seeking a Senior or Staff Software Engineer to develop and manage critical components of Trase OS, the platform that powers Trase deployments in regulated environments. This role involves working on distributed systems and platform primitives that connect workflows, agents, tools, and product surfaces, with a strong emphasis on reliability, scalability, and correctness. The position is available in Seattle, WA (preferred), McLean, VA, or as a remote opportunity within the USA.
In this role, you will design and implement durable abstractions for the platform's execution model, ensuring correctness and determinism in workflow execution. You will translate evolving product requirements into coherent platform architecture and enable teams to build on Trase OS without introducing systemic complexity. Your work will involve building reliable distributed systems that behave predictably across retries, restarts, partial failures, and concurrent execution. Additionally, you will develop platform APIs and SDKs connecting workflows, agents, tools, and product surfaces, driving versioning and compatibility.
The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience in building distributed or platform systems, including significant experience in defining architecture across teams or domains. A minimum of 4 years of experience in owning mission-critical runtimes or workflow/orchestration systems is required. Deep expertise in durable execution, such as state machines, event sourcing, saga/compensation, idempotency, and exactly/at-least-once semantics, is essential. Proven experience with security and governance in production systems, including authentication, RBAC, audit, and policy enforcement, is necessary. Hands-on experience with observability tools like Grafana, including trace correlation across asynchronous boundaries, is also required. Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Go, Rust, Java, or TypeScript, and cloud-native stacks including containers, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is expected. Comfort in operating in regulated or high-assurance environments, with a bias toward correctness, clarity, and documentation, is important. Strong technical judgment and the ability to influence design decisions within a team and across closely related engineering areas are crucial. The ability to incorporate advanced Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities into system design and platform architecture decisions where appropriate is a plus.
The compensation for this role ranges from $180,000 to $240,000 annually, based on experience, skills, and other factors. Benefits include 100% employer-paid comprehensive healthcare for employees and their families, paid maternity and paternity leave for 14 weeks at normal pay, unlimited paid time off (PTO) with management approval, opportunities for professional development and continued learning, optional 401(k), Flexible Spending Account (FSA), and equity incentives, mental health benefits through Tara Mind, and cost-effective GLP-1 solutions available through Crux.
