The Senior Stakeholder Engagement Advisor at Octopus Australia plays a pivotal role in advancing the company's mission to accelerate the renewable energy transition. Based in Brisbane, this position involves collaborating closely with the Development, Construction, and Assets teams to implement effective stakeholder engagement strategies across a diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects, ranging from early-stage developments to operational assets. The role requires regular site visits to development and operational sites, as well as engagement with stakeholders and communities across Australia.
Key responsibilities include assisting in the development and execution of stakeholder engagement strategies, delivering communication plans to support project leads, and leading engagement activities that promote Octopus Australia as a trustworthy and responsible partner. The advisor will coordinate and attend community consultation sessions, local events, and sponsorship representations, work with the Stakeholder Engagement Manager to manage community funding programs, maintain stakeholder databases, and provide crisis communications and media relations support as needed. Building trusting relationships and enhancing Octopus Australia's social license to operate within the communities is also a critical aspect of the role.
Ideal candidates should have prior experience in a similar position within the renewable energy sector, with a preference for those experienced in large-scale infrastructure projects such as electricity transmission or oil and gas. Proficiency in implementing stakeholder engagement activities for diverse stakeholders, strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships across various groups, adaptability to changing work priorities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Experience in planning and managing project events, willingness to travel domestically, and eligibility to work in Australia are also required.
