The engineer will run, track, and improve Kubernetes platforms, such as VMware Tanzu or alternatives, and manage the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment used for high-performance Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Computer-Aided Design (CAD) workloads. Daily tasks involve provisioning, automation, patching, incident response, and optimization of the VM fleet. Implementing automation for deployment and operational processes using tools like Ansible, Terraform, PowerCLI, and Python is also a critical aspect of the role.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience coordinating enterprise virtualisation platforms, with strong hands-on experience in VMware vSphere/ESXi or equivalent systems. Experience in handling large-scale VDI deployments, preferably with Omnissa Horizon or VMware Horizon, is essential. Proficiency in managing core infrastructure components within virtualised environments and expertise in automation tools and scripting languages are required. Strong problem-solving abilities across compute, network, and storage domains, along with experience in patching, upgrades, and capacity planning, are also necessary.
