Site Reliability Engineer II
The Site Reliability Engineer II position at Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is part of the Gaming, Developer, and Future Technology group (GDFT), which is at the forefront of the cloud gaming revolution. This team is dedicated to delivering console-quality video games across various devices, including TVs, consoles, and mobile platforms. The role emphasizes overall ownership of production systems, ensuring high-quality production code, and managing deployments to provide a seamless gaming experience.
Key responsibilities include leading technical discussions to enhance system reliability and scalability, creating high-level designs for new products and platforms, and mentoring junior SRE staff. The engineer will also lead incident response and post-mortem activities, collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize reliability improvements, contribute code to enhance system reliability, and implement automation to reduce manual tasks.
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in software development and/or Linux systems administration, with proficiency in managing large-scale web services infrastructure. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required. Development experience in languages such as Python (preferred), Bash, Go, Java, C++, or Rust is essential. Additional experience in areas like distributed data storage, NoSQL databases, data aggregation technologies, traditional RDBMS with high availability, monitoring and alerting tools, container orchestration, software distribution, configuration management, and software performance analysis is highly desirable.
The estimated base pay range for this role is between $145,700 and $218,500 USD annually.
