As a Software Engineer II specializing in kernel security at PlayStation's Dublin office, you will be an integral part of a team dedicated to enhancing the security of PlayStation systems. Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), the company behind the PlayStation brand, is renowned for delivering cutting-edge hardware and network services to over 100 million users worldwide. In this position, your primary responsibilities will include developing and maintaining kernel security features, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement security improvements, and debugging complex security issues within the kernel. Ensuring code quality through rigorous testing and code reviews will be a key aspect of your day-to-day work.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Proficiency in C/C++ programming languages and experience with Linux kernel development are essential. A strong understanding of kernel security concepts and practices, familiarity with version control systems like Git and GitHub, and excellent debugging and problem-solving skills are also required. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team is crucial.
Preferred qualifications include advanced knowledge of operating systems and low-level programming, experience contributing to notable open-source projects, and effective communication skills for articulating complex technical concepts. A passion for gaming and familiarity with the gaming industry are advantageous.
