Helsing is a defense AI company dedicated to protecting democracies through technological leadership. The Autonomous Air System Verification and Validation (V&V) team focuses on developing simulation and validation environments to rigorously test autonomous air systems before deployment. This role involves creating Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) environments that enable engineers to integrate, test, and assure AI-driven capabilities against virtualized and representative hardware.

Key responsibilities include designing and developing modules in simulation and validation frameworks, writing high-performance Rust code for simulators and test infrastructure, and building tools for automated test coverage, fault injection, and regression testing. The role also involves collaborating closely with autonomy and systems teams to capture requirements and ensure simulation environments accurately represent real-world conditions, as well as debugging and profiling simulation performance to optimize for speed, determinism, and fidelity.

Candidates should have experience in simulation, testing, robotics frameworks, or autonomous driving, and be comfortable with complex systems and concurrency. Proficiency in writing modern, maintainable Rust code is essential. Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are required, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with others, including reviewing code and pair programming. A commitment to reliability, performance, and safety, as well as a motivation for fast feedback loops and real impact, are also important.

Helsing offers a focus on outcomes rather than time-tracking, competitive compensation and stock options, relocation support, social and education allowances, and regular company events to foster team cohesion. The company emphasizes an open and transparent culture that welcomes healthy debates on the use of technology in defense, its benefits, and its ethical implications, providing opportunities for professional growth and meaningful contributions to the protection of democratic societies.
