Software Engineer, Finance Applications
Block's Financial Platform Engineering team is responsible for developing and maintaining the foundational financial technology infrastructure that supports all of Block's brands. This includes building scalable and reliable systems for revenue streams, reconciliations, general ledger management, and financial reporting. The team plays a critical role in enabling key business functions and strategic decision-making across the company.
As a Software Engineer on the Financial Platform Engineering team, you will design and implement backend services, integrations, and workflow engines that drive the company's financial operations. Your work will involve transforming complex financial requirements into scalable technical solutions, with a particular emphasis on leveraging AI-driven development tools throughout the software development lifecycle. Collaboration with cross-functional partners, including Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Procurement, Product, and Data teams, will be essential to ensure the success of these initiatives.
Key responsibilities include building financial operations and reporting infrastructure, leading platform migrations from legacy systems to internal platforms, designing workflow and automation systems to reduce manual effort, and developing integrations between internal and external systems. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance and data integrity by implementing systems with audit trails, access controls, and data governance. Additionally, you will lead technical discussions, contribute to architecture decisions, and mentor other engineers to uphold high standards of code quality and operational reliability.
The ideal candidate will have at least six years of experience working on complex systems and delivering quality software, with expertise in distributed systems design and workflow or state machine systems. Proficiency in building and maintaining APIs and integrations, as well as experience with AI-driven development tools, is highly desirable. Strong collaboration skills and the ability to translate complex financial and regulatory requirements into well-architected technical solutions are essential for success in this role.
Block offers a competitive compensation package, with salary ranges varying based on location. For example, in Zone A, the salary range is $180,000 to $270,000 USD annually.
