Software Engineer, Full Stack
Thinking Machines Lab is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in San Francisco. Our mission is to empower humanity by advancing collaborative general intelligence, making AI accessible and customizable for diverse needs and goals. As a Full Stack Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing and scaling products that accelerate our research and product initiatives.
In this role, you will be responsible for prototyping and building new APIs and product backends using Python and Rust. You will also launch new products and user experiences with React and TypeScript, enhance developer experience for local development, deployment, testing, and iteration speed, and improve system reliability, observability, and security across production environments. Participation in on-call duties is also expected.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Proficiency in at least one backend language, such as Python or Rust, is required, along with familiarity with ReactJS, TypeScript, or mobile platforms. Candidates should be comfortable operating across the stack and owning projects end-to-end, thrive in a highly collaborative environment involving cross-functional partners and subject matter experts, and possess a proactive mindset with a bias for action.
Preferred qualifications include experience designing and maintaining backend APIs at scale, building tooling or products for large language models or other systems that scale to a large number of users, the ability to build high-quality, production-level UIs from prototype to polish, familiarity with NodeJS, Python, and/or Rust, and experience building AI products or other products that scale to a large number of users.
We offer a competitive annual salary ranging from $350,000 to $475,000, depending on background, skills, and experience.
