Software Engineer
The Weather Company is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to join its commercial aviation engineering team in Andover, MA. This role involves developing and enhancing aviation applications that assist dispatchers and pilots in making critical, time-sensitive decisions. The team utilizes a diverse technology stack, including React, Go, MongoDB, AWS,.NET/C#, and SQL Server, to create high-performance visualizations and APIs that integrate real-time weather and flight data.
In this position, you will be responsible for building and maintaining full-stack features across both frontend and backend systems. Your work will focus on delivering data-rich aviation applications used globally by aviation professionals. Key tasks include developing intuitive visualizations that transform complex data into actionable information, designing and extending RESTful APIs using Go and Node.js, and building responsive frontend interfaces in React. Additionally, you will manage large volumes of data using MongoDB and SQL Server, contribute to existing products built and deploy and manage services on AWS.
The ideal candidate will have 1–5 years of professional software development experience, with meaningful contributions to full-stack applications. Practical experience using AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude) as part of the regular development workflow is essential. Proficiency in React or a comparable modern frontend framework is required, along with backend development experience in Go, Node.js, A solid understanding of both relational databases (SQL Server or equivalent) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB or equivalent) is necessary, as well as a strong grasp of REST API design and HTTP fundamentals. Experience with Git-based version control workflows in a collaborative team environment is also important.
This is a hybrid role, requiring three days per week in the office. Engineers on this team participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation following a structured training and onboarding period. The compensation package includes a base salary ranging from $105,000 to $135,000 per year, with benefits effective from day one of employment.
