Sr. Backend Software Engineer

Firework is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. As a leader in AI-powered video commerce, Firework partners with global brands and retailers to revolutionize online shopping experiences. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to our innovative platform, enhancing customer engagement and driving business growth.

In this position, you will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to design and implement scalable solutions across multiple platforms. Your responsibilities will include developing new APIs using the Elixir Phoenix framework, optimizing PostgresQL and Cassandra queries, and improving system responsiveness through in-memory data stores like Redis. Additionally, you will debug issues across the stack, conduct code reviews, and uphold high engineering standards.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and possesses over four years of experience in designing and building high-performance RESTful web services with Elixir. A strong background in SQL infrastructure and data modeling is essential. Candidates should be adaptable, data-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred qualifications include experience with GoLang or Python, expertise in video streaming libraries such as FFmpeg or GStreamer, and familiarity with AI/ML models and applications. Proficiency in building large-scale applications with Python and writing GraphQL queries and mutations is also advantageous.
