The Senior Database Operations Engineer at GHX is responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and problem resolution of database systems supporting GHX's DaaS/SaaS solutions. This role involves managing both corporate and cloud database infrastructures to ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability. The engineer collaborates with various operational and development teams to implement database functionalities that align with company initiatives and adhere to operational policies.
Key responsibilities include administering GHX databases, overseeing backup and recovery processes, monitoring database capacity and performance, managing security and data access, and handling installations, upgrades, and patching. The engineer is also tasked with safeguarding the company's data by adhering to operational and security policies throughout the service delivery lifecycle. Additional duties involve providing 24/7 monitoring, on-call support, troubleshooting database issues, offering operational feedback to development and release teams, and guiding junior database engineers.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with 5-8 years of experience in database administration. Proficiency in at least one RDBMS or No-SQL platform, such as MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, Redis, Oracle, or SQL Server, is required. Experience with hybrid and public cloud concepts, managing databases in high transaction/high availability environments, and familiarity with horizontal scaling and high availability technologies are essential. Hands-on experience with Solaris, UNIX, Linux, or Windows operating systems in both physical and virtual environments is also necessary.
