Sr. Planner - Travel Demand Modeler
Benesch is seeking a Senior Planner with expertise in travel demand modeling and microsimulation to join our growing transportation planning practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects that shape the future of mobility, infrastructure, and community development. The position can be based remotely or in our Tampa office.
The Senior Planner will perform travel demand modeling tasks, including model setup, network coding, troubleshooting, summarizing, documenting, and presenting results. Responsibilities include leading the development, calibration, and application of regional travel demand models and traffic microsimulation models. The role also involves managing and delivering technical tasks on transportation planning and engineering projects, interpreting model outputs to inform policy decisions and infrastructure investments, and preparing clear, client-ready reports and presentations.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Urban Planning, City and Regional Planning, Geography, Public Policy, or a related degree. An AICP or PE license is preferred. A minimum of 4 years of experience in transportation planning and modeling is required. Proficiency in Travel Demand Modeling software such as TransCAD, VISUM, or Cube, and Microsimulation tools like VISSIM, CORSIM, or Synchro is essential. Strong analytical and quantitative skills are necessary, with experience in scripting languages like Python or R considered a plus. Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical findings to non-technical audiences are important. Demonstrated ability to manage tasks and support project teams is also required.
The salary range for this position is $72,000 to $93,000 per year.
