Staff Business Analyst, PlayStation Store
The Staff Business Analyst role at PlayStation Store is a senior individual contributor position within the Commercial Development team at Sony Interactive Entertainment. This role focuses on translating commercial opportunities into actionable business requirements and process changes, utilizing experimentation to build cases for change, and influencing senior leaders through structured analysis and financial reasoning. The analyst will collaborate with business, product, data science, and engineering teams to ensure new product features align with business needs. Notably, this position does not involve owning a product roadmap, feature backlog, or delivery team.
Key responsibilities include leading complex business analyses for global, high-impact AI and machine learning initiatives across digital commerce, personalization, subscriptions, and publishing operations. The analyst will translate complex commercial objectives into measurable business requirements, partner with cross-functional teams to ensure product requirements meet business needs, and facilitate successful product development and delivery. Additionally, the role involves influencing senior stakeholders through structured problem framing, financial reasoning, and data-informed recommendations, as well as partnering with data analytics teams to define, execute, and evaluate experiments around personalization, revenue growth, and operational improvements.
The ideal candidate will have over eight years of experience in business analysis within digital commerce, subscriptions, or retail businesses, along with a bachelor's degree or equivalent. They should be adept at decomposing vague business problems into structured analytical questions and clear business requirements, partnering with product, engineering, and data science teams to design and deliver commerce and tooling solutions, and defining decision logic before proposing solutions. The candidate should also be comfortable challenging assumptions and building arguments using data and financial reasoning, mapping complex business processes, and directing teams through process improvement and automation initiatives. Strong experience working alongside data science and machine learning teams is essential, including defining requirements for AI/ML-enabled solutions, evaluating model applicability and limitations, and translating model outputs into business decisions. A deep understanding of experimentation and measurement, a commercial mindset with comfort discussing unit economics, marginal versus absolute lift, and ROI, and executive-level communication skills are also required.
The estimated base pay range for this role is between $178,100 and $267,100 USD.
