Staff Data Scientist – Experimentation: Innovation & Research
As a Staff Data Scientist at Sony Interactive Entertainment, you will lead innovation in experimentation and causal inference, shaping the future of decision-making and product innovation. This role involves driving research in experimentation methodologies, mentoring team members, and elevating the experimentation strategy to deliver player-first experiences through evidence-based decisions.
Key responsibilities include developing measurement frameworks and best practices, advancing experimentation infrastructure with statistical and machine learning methods, and mentoring less-senior data scientists. You will collaborate with product managers and business leaders to identify high-impact experimentation opportunities aligned with PlayStation’s strategic goals.
The ideal candidate holds a Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in Applied Math, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field, with a Ph.D. preferred. A minimum of 8 years in data science, including extensive hands-on work in experimentation and at least 2 years in a mentoring or technical leadership capacity, is required. Proficiency in SQL and statistical programming languages such as R or Python, along with expertise in causal inference techniques and designing both randomized and quasi-experiments, is essential.
Compensation includes a discretionary bonus opportunity.
