Staff Frontend Engineer (level above Senior) Editing Performance, Design exp
Canva is seeking a Staff Frontend Engineer to join the Editing Performance team, which is dedicated to enhancing the core design experience for millions of users worldwide. This role focuses on ensuring the Canva editor remains smooth, scalable, and feature-rich, aligning with the company's mission to make design simple and accessible.
In this position, you will design, develop, and deploy solutions in collaboration with leads, designers, and product managers. Your primary focus will be on web frontend development using TypeScript, with potential involvement in other languages and environments. Additionally, you will facilitate knowledge sharing, advocate for engineering needs to non-technical team members, and identify opportunities for cross-team collaboration to drive new insights and improvements.
The ideal candidate has experience in software development environments, particularly in building internal or external SDKs or APIs. Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, TypeScript, and MobX is essential. A strong foundation in computer science and engineering fundamentals, including asynchronous programming, data structures, solution design, architecture, and design patterns, is required. Experience with browser rendering pipelines, event handling, WebWorkers, WebGL/WebGPU is advantageous but not mandatory. Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication abilities are also important.
