Staff Software Engineer - SOC Platform (Ruby/Rails)
Huntress, a remote-first cybersecurity company founded by former NSA cyber operators, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their SOC Experience team. This team focuses on developing the analyst-facing components of Huntress' Security Operations Center (SOC) platform, including investigation and triage interfaces, remediation actions, work queues, and customer-facing reporting systems. The role offers an opportunity to contribute to a rapidly growing company that secures over 5 million endpoints and 16 million identities worldwide.
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across the SOC Experience domain, shaping architecture and design direction, converting ambiguous requirements into functional workflows and data models, and mentoring engineers. Your responsibilities will include designing and building full-stack analyst-facing interfaces, setting standards for front-end quality in partnership with UX, and ensuring engineering excellence through code reviews and hands-on collaboration. You will also lead security-by-design reviews and focus on the full lifecycle of the systems you build, including evolution, configuration, and risk management.
The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience developing complex software products, with at least 5 years of programming in Ruby on Rails. Strong front-end skills in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, along with experience building complex interactive UIs with modern component-based frameworks, are essential. Experience with AWS or other public cloud environments, Linux-based infrastructure, and relational databases such as Postgres is required. Preferred qualifications include experience with ClickHouse, building cybersecurity products, or operating SOC platforms, and familiarity with Hotwire, Stimulus, and Turbo.
Compensation for this role includes a base salary ranging from $200,000 to $220,000 per year, plus bonus and equity. Huntress offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a generous paid time off policy, 12 weeks of paid parental leave, highly competitive medical, dental, and vision benefits, a 401(k) plan with a 5% contribution regardless of employee contribution, life and disability insurance plans, stock options for all full-time employees, a one-time $500 reimbursement for building or upgrading a home office, an annual allowance for education and professional development assistance, a $75 monthly digital reimbursement, and access to the BetterUp platform for coaching and personal and professional growth.
Huntress fosters a culture of inclusivity where every team member is valued and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work. The company is committed to making enterprise-grade cybersecurity accessible to businesses of all sizes, working closely with security teams and service providers to protect complex environments. Joining Huntress provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the cybersecurity field while working in a supportive and dynamic remote-first environment.
