Staff Systems Developer, Compliance & Legal Systems
Robinhood is seeking a Staff Systems Developer to join its Compliance and Legal Systems team in Toronto, Canada. This team is dedicated to leveraging technology to ensure the company adheres to all applicable laws and regulations while safeguarding its operations. The role involves enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of Compliance and Legal teams through scalable systems, improved workflows, automation, and robust controls.
As a Staff Systems Developer, you will take on a leadership role across Robinhood's Compliance and Legal technology portfolio. Your responsibilities will include acting as the technical owner for core Compliance and Legal applications, leading technical integrations during mergers and acquisitions, designing and implementing scalable systems that support regulatory compliance, and championing the adoption of AI and automation to drive operational excellence. You will also collaborate closely with Compliance, Legal, Security, and external vendors, mentor fellow engineers, and navigate ambiguity to drive clarity in roadmap priorities for Compliance and Legal systems.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience operating at a Staff or Principal engineering level, with a track record of designing, building, and scaling application ecosystems. Deep experience working in compliance, legal, or highly regulated environments is essential, along with strong cloud-native experience with AWS or GCP. Significant domain experience with eDiscovery, data retention, and communications archiving platforms, as well as privacy technologies supporting GDPR and CCPA requirements, is highly desirable. Proficiency with programming or scripting languages such as Python or Go, particularly for automation, migrations, and systems integration, is required.
The expected base pay range for this role in Toronto, ON, is $119,000 - $140,000 CAD annually. In addition to base pay, the role is eligible for bonus opportunities, equity, and benefits. Robinhood offers a comprehensive total rewards package that varies by region and entity.
