Translation Coordinator
Questel is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Translation Coordinator to join our Translation Services team. This role involves overseeing the language translation phase of projects throughout the project management lifecycle, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of translation services. The Translation Coordinator will work closely with project managers to understand client objectives and lead internal coordination efforts that align with Questel’s quality and delivery standards.
Key responsibilities include accepting projects from project managers, assigning them via our Translation Project Management Software (Savanta), and tracking progress throughout the lifecycle. The role also involves coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and other Translation Coordinators to ensure smooth execution, as well as ensuring translation resources are available, resolving vendor-related issues, and collaborating with Vendor Services. Additionally, the Translation Coordinator will communicate with project managers about changes, contingencies, and issues that may affect client relationships, process purchase orders, final deliveries, and test evaluations, and address purchase order concerns with Accounting. The role also includes sending linguistic queries to relevant teams, providing feedback to linguists and vendors, ensuring accuracy and managing glossaries/term bases, compiling legal documents, completing monthly reports, and flagging recurring errors to management.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. Professional translation experience or other similar language industry experience is preferred but not required. The candidate should possess excellent analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, and be willing to occasionally manage and deliver projects during non-standard hours. Outstanding planning, scheduling, and coordination skills are essential, along with a high level of motivation, initiative, and the ability to complete assignments independently. The candidate should be able to stay on task with minimal supervision, regularly report on progress, and be a quick learner with the ability to multi-task in occasionally stressful situations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, with advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, regression analysis, etc.) being a plus. Good time management skills and the ability to complete a heavy workload within an established time frame are also important. The candidate should participate in a culture of responsiveness to strengthen relationships and ensure the needs and time of others are met and respected. Fluency in English, both verbal and written, is required, and proficiency in additional languages is welcome.
