Urban Wildlands Staff Attorney
The Center for Biological Diversity is seeking an Urban Wildlands Staff Attorney to join its Urban Wildlands program. This role involves working within a dedicated team focused on protecting urban wildlands and promoting sustainable development practices. The attorney will play a crucial role in advancing the organization's mission to safeguard biodiversity in urban settings.
The Staff Attorney will be responsible for developing and implementing legal strategies to protect urban wildlands. This includes engaging in litigation, policy advocacy, and collaboration with community groups to challenge harmful development projects and promote conservation initiatives. The attorney will also monitor and respond to legislative and regulatory developments affecting urban biodiversity.
Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and be admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. A strong background in environmental law, particularly related to land use and urban planning, is essential. Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills are required, along with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
