WeLab Bank - Legal Counsel

WeLab Bank is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its dynamic team in Hong Kong. This role offers an opportunity to work within a leading fintech company that operates one of Asia's first licensed digital banks. The Legal Counsel will collaborate closely with various business units and functions, reporting directly to the Group General Counsel, to provide comprehensive legal support across the organization.

In this position, the Legal Counsel will handle a broad spectrum of legal matters, including joint ventures, partnerships, investments, debt and equity financings, market entries, internal investigations, and commercial contract reviews. The role also involves coordinating with external counsels, managing legal expenditures, and assisting in the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures. Additionally, the Legal Counsel will provide training on legal and compliance issues to different business units.

Candidates should possess at least 6-8 years of post-qualification experience, with a minimum of 2 years in-house and 2 years at a top-tier law firm. A solid background in corporate and corporate finance law is essential, and qualifications from Hong Kong, the UK, Australia, or Singapore are preferred. Proficiency in both Chinese and English is required, and experience in fintech or TMT regulatory areas, including data privacy, cybersecurity, and intellectual property, is advantageous.
