Wetlab Protocol Specialist - Freelance AI Trainer Project

The Wetlab Protocol Specialist – AI Trainer role is a freelance, remote position focused on enhancing the capabilities of advanced language models in the realm of scientific discovery. By providing high-quality training data, this role aims to democratize world-class education, optimize laboratory workflows, and improve reproducibility in life science research. The specialist will collaborate with a team dedicated to advancing AI applications in scientific contexts.

Key responsibilities include engaging with language models on practical laboratory scenarios and theoretical protocol questions, verifying factual accuracy and logical workflow, capturing reproducible error traces, and suggesting improvements to prompt engineering and evaluation metrics. The specialist will challenge models on topics such as PCR and qPCR protocols, cell culture methods, nucleic acid extraction, microscopy preparations, assay standardization, troubleshooting experiments, and lab safety procedures.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, or a closely related life-science field. Peer-reviewed publications and hands-on experience in wetlab research or clinical laboratory practice are essential. Clear, metacognitive communication—demonstrating the ability to "show your work"—is crucial for success in this role.

Compensation ranges from $8 to $65 per hour, with the exact rate determined based on experience, expertise, and geographic location. As a contractor, the specialist is expected to supply a secure computer and high-speed internet; company-sponsored benefits such as health insurance and paid time off do not apply.
