American Retirement Plan Services (ARPS), a boutique consulting firm headquartered in Baltimore County, MD, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented 401(k) Plan Administrator to join their team. As an operating partner of Strongpoint Partners, ARPS specializes in delivering tailored retirement services to small and medium-sized businesses, offering expert guidance and hands-on support across a range of plan types. The 401(k) Plan Administrator will be responsible for independently managing and administering a portfolio of 50–75 retirement plans. Key duties include performing compliance testing (such as ADP/ACP, coverage, and nondiscrimination tests), preparing annual valuations, completing and filing Form 5500s, calculating employer contributions, and conducting cross-testing and allocation calculations. Additionally, the administrator will review and process participant distributions and loans, maintain up-to-date knowledge of ERISA rules and regulations, and ensure operational compliance by reviewing plan documents. Effective communication with clients, advisors, and internal team members is essential to this role.

The ideal candidate will have experience administering defined contribution retirement plans and a strong understanding of ERISA rules and retirement plan compliance. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams, is required. Experience as a Combo Cash Balance/Defined Contribution (CB/DC) Administrator and familiarity with Ft. William Documents and Compliance Software are advantageous but not mandatory. The ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines is crucial for success in this position.
