AI & Informatics Engineer
Prime Medicine is seeking an AI & Informatics Engineer to join our AI Foundry team in Cambridge, MA. This role involves designing and building the data and computational infrastructure that supports our prime editing programs. The engineer will collaborate closely with research scientists, computational biologists, and technical development professionals to transform raw data into reliable scientific insights and develop automation and AI capabilities that enhance our therapeutic development processes.
Key responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining scalable bioinformatics pipelines for next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis, particularly amplicon sequencing for on-target editing quantification. The role also involves building and maintaining data infrastructure that connects NGS instruments, electronic laboratory notebooks (e.g., Benchling), data repositories, and AWS cloud compute resources. Additionally, the engineer will develop APIs, dashboards, and other internal tools to expose genomic data and analytical capabilities to scientific and cross-functional teams.
The ideal candidate will have a BS with 5+ years or an MS with 3+ years of industry experience in Engineering, Bioinformatics, Data Sciences, or a related field. Strong Python development skills are essential, along with proficiency in Nextflow (or comparable workflow tools), Docker, AWS, Linux/Unix, and Git. Experience in developing and deploying bioinformatic data infrastructure, particularly NGS analysis pipelines, and implementing or integrating laboratory informatics systems, preferably including Benchling, is required. Familiarity with large language model (LLM) frameworks and a track record of shipping software that scientific or technical users adopt and rely on are also important.

The salary range for this position is $134,000 to $163,000 USD annually, based on experience and skills.
