As an Associate Director of Physical Sciences EH&S at Lila Sciences, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring a safe and compliant environment within our physical science laboratories. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive environmental health and safety programs, thereby enabling groundbreaking scientific discoveries in a secure setting.
Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining EH&S programs and policies focused on physical and chemical hazards, material sciences, and nanomaterials to comply with local, state, and federal regulations. You will conduct regular safety evaluations, risk assessments, and facility reviews to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions. Additionally, you will manage chemical safety and hazardous waste disposal processes, deliver EH&S training for staff and contractors, and lead the development of best practices for chemical handling of materials with significant hazards.
The ideal candidate will possess a BA/BS degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline, along with over five years of experience in an EH&S role within a scientific, laboratory, or biotech environment, with a strong focus on physical science domains. A strong understanding of safety regulations, including biosafety, chemical hygiene, and waste disposal standards, is essential. Experience in conducting safety evaluations and risk assessments, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively across various scientific domains are also required.
We offer a competitive base salary ranging from $108,000 to $144,000 per year, along with bonus potential and generous early equity. The final offer will reflect your unique background, expertise, and impact.
