Associate Engineer, Research Operations
Lila Sciences is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Engineer to join our high-throughput Research Operations team in Cambridge, MA. In this role, you will operate automated liquid handling systems and other laboratory automation platforms to execute high-throughput workflows. This position offers hands-on experience with state-of-the-art automation technologies, contributing directly to projects that drive the company's growth.
Key responsibilities include operating and maintaining automated liquid handling systems such as Hamilton, Lynx, or Echo to run high-throughput workflows. You will prepare reagents, samples, and consumables for both automated and manual experiments, following detailed standard operating procedures to ensure accuracy, reproducibility, and throughput. Monitoring workflow performance, troubleshooting common issues, and escalating when necessary are also integral parts of the role. Additionally, you will record, organize, and maintain experimental data with high attention to detail and collaborate with scientists and engineers to support diverse projects across life sciences and physical sciences.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or a related field, or possesses equivalent laboratory experience. Prior laboratory experience, either academic or industry, with pipetting, molecular biology techniques, or microbiology is required. Familiarity with integrated laboratory automation technologies and their application in mRNA/DNA workflows, as well as experience working in high-throughput production environments with a focus on scalability and efficiency, are considered advantageous.
Lila Sciences offers competitive compensation, including bonus potential and generous early equity. The expected base salary range for this position is $72,000 to $94,000 USD. The final offer will reflect your unique background, expertise, and impact.
