Backend Engineer - Europe Risk and Controls

As a Backend Engineer in the Europe Risk and Controls team, your primary responsibilities will include designing and implementing backend services that integrate with a diverse range of partners and providers. You will work on building banking integrations and contribute to the development of mobile applications for iOS and Android. The role involves participating in the entire product lifecycle, from initial research and development to deployment and maintenance, ensuring that Wise's services are accessible and reliable across Europe. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data scientists, and other engineering teams, will be essential to identify and address customer pain points through data-driven solutions.
To be considered for this role, candidates should have over four years of experience with Java 11 or higher, with a strong understanding of complex systems distributed across multiple microservices and technologies such as Kafka. A solid grasp of system integration patterns and the ability to drive complex technical decisions are crucial. The ideal candidate will possess a strong product mindset, prioritizing user experience and making data-driven decisions to resolve customer issues. Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams are essential for success in this role.
Wise offers a competitive compensation package, including a gross annual salary ranging from €66,600 to €82,800, along with Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) in a rapidly growing company.
