Backend Software Engineer
Fieldwire is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join their small, full-stack team dedicated to enhancing tools for General Contractors. This role offers the flexibility of remote work within the United States or a hybrid model based in San Francisco, CA. As part of the Hilti Group, Fieldwire combines deep construction expertise with modern digital innovation to deliver better outcomes on every job.
In this position, you will collaborate closely with the product team to rapidly develop features in innovative new product areas. Your responsibilities will include developing seamless integrations with third-party systems, designing clean and performant APIs in partnership with frontend and mobile developers, and actively participating in daily discussions on technical designs, product vision, and prioritization. Additionally, you will be expected to set reasonable and attainable technical goals and milestones.
Ideal candidates should have over five years of relevant industry experience as a backend or product engineer, with a proven track record of leading multi-month projects from technical design through launch. Proficiency in Ruby on Rails and hands-on experience with AWS are essential. A strong product sense, the ability to navigate ambiguity, and effective communication skills across functions are also important. While not required, knowledge of frontend frameworks like Angular is a plus.
The estimated annual salary for this role ranges from $145,000 to $170,000, with the potential for a corporate bonus of up to 30%.
