Business Development Manager - U.S. Litigation Practice
The Business Development Manager will play a key role in supporting the strategic objectives and driving growth for the U.S. Litigation practice at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. This role reports to the Senior Litigation Business Development Manager and collaborates closely with attorneys and other members of the Global Business Development team. Cleary Gottlieb is a pioneer in globalizing the legal profession, operating as a single, integrated global partnership with approximately 1,100 lawyers from more than fifty countries.
Key responsibilities include developing pitches and RFP responses, creating and maintaining practice group credentials, and managing the preparation of directory and award submissions. The manager will conduct ongoing monitoring and analysis of existing and prospective clients, competitor activities, and industry or market trends. Additionally, the role involves partnering with senior business development team members and practice leadership on global and local cross-selling and client targeting efforts, including those related to the firm's key client program.
The ideal candidate will have over seven years of relevant business development experience in a professional services firm, with at least two years in litigation legal marketing. Experience working independently as well as within cross-functional teams in a collaborative, professional environment is essential. Strong analytical and research skills, proven experience in writing pitches and proposals, exceptional attention to detail, and excellent oral and written communication skills are required. The candidate must also demonstrate flexibility to work outside regular business hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as needed.
The estimated base salary for this position ranges from $160,000 to $180,000 at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will be determined based on various job-related factors, including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, the scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, and performance. This is an exempt role, meaning it is not eligible for overtime pay.
