Engelhart, a diversified commodities trading company founded in 2013 by BTG Pactual Group, is seeking a Business Manager for its financial and physical commodities operations in Europe. The company operates an "asset light" model, enabling adaptability to changing market conditions. Engelhart's team combines advanced fundamental analysis with quantitative and weather research capabilities, underpinned by strong risk management practices and operational excellence. In 2024, Engelhart expanded its capabilities by acquiring Trailstone, a global energy trading and technology company, enhancing its expertise in renewable power and physical natural gas across North America. The company values Performance, Agility, Collaboration, and Entrepreneurship.

The Business Manager will coordinate daily operations and long-term growth of Engelhart's European commodities businesses, including European gas and power, renewables, dry bulk freight, and financial commodities trading. Responsibilities encompass acting as a key interface between trading desks and support functions, ensuring alignment and efficient delivery of initiatives. The role involves ensuring robustness and continuous improvement of processes, controls, and governance frameworks, applying a deep understanding of systems and processes to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements. Additional duties include owning and driving coordination of business controls and approvals, driving business planning, performance monitoring, and cost analysis, and leading the resolution of complex operational challenges across desks, geographies, and functions.

Candidates should possess a strong academic background, with at least 7-10 years of relevant experience in commodities or energy trading, including at least 5 years in business management. Solid experience in European power and gas markets, and preferably renewables, is required. Experience working cross-functionally with front office and support functions, with exposure to senior stakeholders, is essential. Demonstrable experience in clear and effective communication, particularly with PowerPoint, and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Copilot, are necessary. Fluent English language skills are mandatory. Desirable attributes include the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, unstructured trading environment, resilience under pressure, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Engelhart offers a competitive compensation package, participation in its discretionary bonus plan, 25 days of annual holiday entitlement (excluding UK public holidays), and a robust benefits package, including medical, dental, life insurance, generous pension contributions, and supplemental benefits partially subsidized by the company. Employees are also eligible for external and internal training in accordance with the company's Training & Development Policy.

The company fosters a highly collaborative culture, driven by diverse global teams with decades of experience. Engelhart's values of Performance, Agility, Collaboration, and Entrepreneurship guide its operations. The Business Manager role provides exposure to all levels of staff seniority in an international commodities trading company, offering opportunities for professional growth and development.
