The Business Unit Manager (BUMa) at Eurofins Environment Testing in Philadelphia, PA, is responsible for overseeing laboratory operations to ensure positive operating margins and the achievement of annual budgets. This role involves supervising all laboratory personnel, providing leadership and direction, and ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory policies. The BUMa serves as a liaison with corporate business partners and champions the company's policies, vision, and mission.
Key responsibilities include leading the team, scheduling, and training employees, ensuring adherence to the highest quality and efficiency standards in laboratory operations, and fostering morale and teamwork. The BUMa manages the technical conduct, quality control, and related record-keeping of all analytical evaluations performed. Additionally, the role involves overseeing daily operations, including laboratory, quality, logistic, and managerial duties, and representing the laboratory in technical meetings.
The position requires a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field, or equivalent directly-related experience. Candidates should have at least 10 years of supervisory experience and at least 10 years of professional experience in laboratory operations, with a minimum of 5 years in laboratory operations or large/multi-department/team leadership with profit/loss accountability. Familiarity with laboratory operations and services, as well as EPA, DOT, OSHA, and DOL regulations, is essential. Excellent verbal and written skills, strong customer relations skills, and the ability to manage a business at a profit/loss responsibility level are also required.
