Business Unit Manager - Genomics
The Business Unit Manager - Genomics at Eurofins is responsible for leading and expanding the company's oligonucleotide manufacturing and sequencing operations in the United States. This role carries full profit and loss responsibility and involves overseeing daily activities, coordinating staff, and managing facilities and equipment maintenance. The position is based in Louisville, Kentucky, and reports directly to senior management.
Key responsibilities include directing and prioritizing daily operations of the oligonucleotide production and sequencing lab, managing a team of over 60 full-time employees. The manager is tasked with hiring, motivating, developing, and retaining staff, ensuring essential training schedules are followed. Collaborating closely with the Sales and Marketing team, the role involves creating business strategies and introducing new products aligned with customer and market needs. Additionally, the manager defines goals and milestones, sets up Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across all operational areas, and monitors progress to ensure achievement of objectives.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, with a Master's or PhD in Chemistry preferred. A minimum of seven to nine years' experience in a manufacturing operations leadership position is required, with familiarity in LEAN and Six Sigma manufacturing principles considered advantageous. An MBA would be a plus. The role demands a strong leader with excellent interpersonal skills and a proven track record of implementing automation and process improvements in a production or manufacturing environment.
