Business Unit Manager, Microbiology Pharma
Eurofins is seeking an experienced and inspirational Business Unit Manager to lead the Microbiology Pharma division at our Schönenwerd site. This role involves full strategic and operational ownership, driving growth, quality, and innovation within the team. The Business Unit Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership to an established microbiology team, ensuring GMP-compliant laboratory operations and continuous process improvements. Responsibilities include full accountability for budget, revenue, profitability, and capacity planning, as well as further development of the service portfolio and active contribution to business expansion. The role also involves close collaboration with QA, Operations, Sales, and Eurofins’ international network, coaching and developing team members, and representing the Business Unit to customers, partners, and authorities.
Candidates should possess a university degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related field, along with several years of leadership experience in a GMP-regulated laboratory environment. A solid understanding of microbiological methods, such as bioburden, environmental monitoring, utility testing (clean water, gas), endotoxin testing, and media fills, is essential. A strong business mindset, with experience in P&L responsibility being a plus, excellent communication and people-leadership skills, strong customer focus, and the ability to effectively prioritize in a dynamic environment are also required. Proficiency in English and German is necessary.
