Certification Engineer - Japanese Market Specialist

Wayve, established in 2017, is a leading developer of Embodied AI technology, focusing on autonomous vehicle systems. The company is seeking a Certification Engineer specializing in the Japanese market to ensure their AV2.0 technology aligns with Japan's regulatory standards. This role is based in Tokyo or Yokohama, Japan, and involves close collaboration with various internal teams and external partners.

The Certification Engineer will be responsible for implementing and managing regulatory requirements specific to Japan, ensuring compliance across all deployment jurisdictions. Key duties include collaborating with Product and Engineering teams to integrate regulatory alignment into program workflows, identifying and addressing regulatory challenges, managing compliance requirements using internal tools, and serving as a technical liaison with OEM partners and suppliers.

Candidates should have experience with certification and homologation processes in Japan and at the UNECE level, with a preference for understanding EU and FMVSS frameworks. Strong skills in interpreting complex regulations, comparing product specifications to regulatory requirements, and excellent written and verbal communication are essential. The role also requires the ability to collaborate across disciplines and manage complex technical programs effectively.

This full-time position offers a hybrid working policy, combining time in the office and remote work. Core working hours are flexible, allowing employees to determine schedules that best suit their team and personal needs. The role may also require some international travel.
